Health Chiefs say one of the biggest problem the NHS faces is blocked beds and inappropriate admissions due to poor social care which has been severely cut.
We are asking National and Local Government to ACT NOW and reallocate the £5 Billion to support home help and social care in Gloucestershire. This will mean that more people can live in their own homes, with the help they need and the NHS will be able to free up beds in our overcrowded hospitals.
From a petition we took on Saturday we found that many, if not most people of Gloucester of all ages and backgrounds are also very concerned and agree that much more money should be made available for social care in this country. The proposed extra two percent on council tax, an unfair tax for those on lower incomes, supposedly going towards this, is not nearly enough. We urge Richard Graham to join others in Parliament to demand that sufficient funds are made available so that social care can relieve suffering in this country. We can afford it. We should insist on having a decent social care system.
